The Goal

We were approached by Ravensburger to create an overview/promotional video for Push, a dice-rolling, push your luck game.

The Process

We were given direction and inspiration from an Apple event teaser that followed a simple, retro-styled, filmic color approach. Lots of emphasis on the game’s color pallete and simple shapes and transitions.

Push is very simple, artistically, but it creates a striking image on the table. It’s clearly very focused and makes for a fun video to animate.

We created a simple storyboard to show the direction and movement, then got to work.

Behind the scenes, any hands you see on-screen were actually Chris’ hands. We took top down photos of each scene with hands and then did some basic rotoscoping to create the visual counterparts. Katie thinks the hands are creepy, but maybe she should have volunteered her hands instead!

The goal was to get each scene to flow into the next, creating a seamless video experience that’s over before you even realize it.

We wanted a video experience that would help illustrate the basics of the game, but also utilize the presentation to make something bold and fun.
